utility-backup
utility-backup is a personal tool that copies the owner's own files from Google Drive and Dropbox to storage the owner controls, so there is one reconciled set of those files and several backups of it. It has one user, its owner. It is not offered to anyone else and has no public sign-up.
What it accesses
- Google Drive: the owner's own Drive files, with read-only access. It lists files and downloads copies. It does not change, move or delete anything in Drive.
- Dropbox: the owner's own Dropbox files, also read-only.
Where the data goes
Copies are stored on a home server and its attached external drives. An encrypted offsite copy may also be kept with a backup service chosen by the owner. Nothing is sent to advertisers or analytics services, and nothing is shared with anyone else.
Revoking access
You can remove the tool's access at any time from your Google account's third-party access page or your Dropbox connected apps page.
See the privacy policy for the full details, including how Google user data is handled.
